New York City Mayor Eric Adams has unveiled plans for the city’s first official cryptocurrency summit, scheduled for May 20. The announcement reinforces his ambition to position New York as the preeminent global center for digital assets, directly challenging California’s Silicon Valley in blockchain innovation.

The initiative follows former President Donald Trump’s White House crypto event by just two months, signaling growing institutional recognition of blockchain technology. Adams was joined by Figure Firm co-founder June Ou at Monday’s press conference, where he highlighted the city’s expanding blockchain ecosystem.
